EASEUS Todo Backup Home

Everyone knows they should have a good backup of any important files that are on their computer in case the Hard Drive crashes or the computer is otherwise destroyed by something like a fire, flood, or hurricane.   The problem is many people don’t even know where to start to try and create a backup of the files and folders that are important.

EASEUS Todo Backup Home 2.0 provides an easy to use solution for you to Backup your entire computer quickly and easily.

The first thing you’ll need is a good external hard drive. I like this Seagate External Hard Drive as it is small and doesn’t require a separate AC Adapter to use.  It connects to your computer via a USB port and is powered from the computer.  The most affordable model is the 250 GB size and you can buy a larger model if needed.

Next you need a software program to backup you data and preferably one that creates a System Image. You could bypass this step and just drag and drop or copy your files manually but this gets tedious after a while, isn’t automated, and won’t create an image of your system.  This is where EASEUS Todo Backup Home 2.0 comes into play because it allows you to create a Backup Image for your home computer for FREE!

If your computer came with Windows Pre-installed on it then you should consider a Backup Image because if your hard drive crashes the recovery option that the manufacturer installed on it won’t work either.  This means to get your computer working again you’d need both a new hard drive as well as new Windows software and this can be expensive.   Of course if you were diligent enough to make the Factory Restore Discs you’d just need the new Hard Drive but my experience is that 90% of people who buy a new computer fail to make the Restore Discs.

Another major advantage to having good Backup Images is if your computer becomes infected with a virus that requires reinstalling the operating system to clean you can reinstall an image from a time when your computer wasn’t infected.  The advantage to this is reinstalling the image is faster and will put your computer back to a specific point in time with all your documents and programs included.

The program I recommend for creating a Backup Images is EASEUS Todo Backup Home 2.0. Be sure to create a Bootable Emergency Rescue Disk for so you can run EASEUS Todo Backup from an emergency disk to perform recovery in case of system crash.   A USB drive, CD or DVD Bootable media can be created.

EASEUS Todo Backup Home 2.0 has many features but the one I use consistently is the Backup Feature to make a image of my hard drive.  I store this image on an external drive and try to do it at least twice a month.  I don’t use the Automatic schedule feature as I prefer a to create a new image at a time of my choosing.   Depending on how much data is on your primary hard drive and how fast your computer is the backup process can take anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours.   I use a 64 GB SSD as my C Drive on a Windows 7 machine with 8 GB’s of RAM and a Quad Core CPU. Doing a Backup with EASEUS Todo Backup takes me about 20 minutes.   I store my 4 most recent images on both a secondary internal hard drive as well as an external hard drive that is kept in a fireproof and waterproof safe in case my house burns down.

EASEUS Todo Backup Home 2.0 works with Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. I think you’ll find the program is easy to use and their website is easy to understand and navigate.  They also have a comprehensive User Guide to help you should you require it.
