“The Dust on Our Feet” is a feature film from JJ Starr about children living in a trash dump in Honduras just outside the city limits of Tegucigalpa. The trash dump is known as “El Crematorio” and it’s filled with kids who along with their families, collect trash for a living. These kids are born into a viscous cycle of poverty and many of the kids become addicted to drugs and eventually end up begging on the streets. He’s trying to draw attention to these kids and their school, AFE (Amor, Fe, Esperanza or Love, Faith, Hope) that educates them. The AFE school prepares kids for a life not just beyond the dump, but beyond what they can even imagine. From a humble beginning of teaching classes in the trash dump, AFE is now a thriving school that is actively transforming lives and combating the cycle of poverty.
