Resize Pictures for Email with a Free Image Resizer.
Everyone knows how frustrating it is to receive an email with a bunch of photos attached that are still in their original format. As digital cameras have gotten less expensive and the pixel size has increased so has the size of the original photo.
It’s not uncommon to see photos that are 2-3 MB’s in size. Sending these photos will often result in either the email getting bounced as it makes the inbox go over it’s size limit or it just takes forever to download, especially for those still using dial-up Internet connections. Fortunately you can eliminate this by Resizing the Pictures before sending the email.
Here’s Several Free Image Resizers To Resize Pictures for Email:
Photo Magician – This is my favorite image resizing program because it’s Fast and it’s Free! Photo Magician gives you multiple options on how and where to resize your photos including the option to overwrite existing files.
Microsoft PowerToys (Windows XP) are Free Programs to enhance the Windows XP experience. One Power Toy Big Geek Daddy uses on a regular basis is Power Toy Image Resizer. Image Resizer is great if you send photos via email or want to use a photo as your desktop wallpaper as it can reduce a 2 MB file down to less than 100 KB. To use, simply download the program and double click on it to install. It will appear as if nothing has been installed. Select a picture file on your computer and right click on it to see the “Resize Pictures” option. Click that and the rest is easy. It won’t change your original file as it just creates a smaller version in the same folder. Try Image Resizer, you’ll like it.
ShrinkPic – (Windows XP and Vista) – This is a great program for the novice computer user as it runs in the background and will automatically resize images as they are attached to the email without changing the original image.
An alternative method of sending pictures via email in XP is shown here and here are some tips for Vista users.
Here’s another tip for using an Image Resizer with Digital Photos. If you have a digital photo frame and want to get as many different photos as possible onto the memory card then resize all the photos before adding them to the memory card.
