The Office of Naval Research demonstrates the Autonomous Swarm technology that is currently being developed to as a new way to conduct Naval Warfare. The unmanned naval vessels are capable of protecting other ships from attack by swarming any approaching enemy vessel without putting sailors at risk. This demonstration took place on the James River in Virginia during August, 2014.
