The American flag has had 50 stars on it for years but have you ever heard the story about how the 50-Star American Flag was designed by a kid? Way back in 1958, Robert Heft was a high school student in Ohio and his history teacher gave them a class project. Robert was forward-thinking and designed a flag with 50 stars in anticipation of Alaska and Hawaii becoming states. His project got a B- from his history teacher and the rest is history as they say.
