This massive dike in the Netherlands has protected the country from flooding for over 85 years. The sea wall is 32 km long and is getting a massive upgrade to be able to withstand a 1 in 10,000-year storm. This is truly a marvel of civil engineering that required thousands of men to build. I love seeing the old video footage of how it was built as well as the computer-generated video of the upgrades.
