New York City’s Horse Elevators

Take one last nostalgic ride in a horse elevator, a disappearing vestige of New York’s history. Installed in the late 1880s to lift horses up a 5-story stable, it served the equestrian parking needs of New York’s booming Chelsea neighborhood until being converted for freight, and then residential use.
