Welles was a former Boston College lacrosse player who led people to safety while wearing his trademark red bandana after terrorists struck the World Trade Center on September 11th. In doing so he passed up the opportunity to save himself and get out of the building before it collapsed. His memory is honored each year at the Red Bandana Game for the Boston College football team. God Bless his parents for raising such a wonderful man.
