Anyone that knows anything about working on an oil rig knows that it’s an incredibly dangerous job and when mistakes are made the consequences can be devastating. The Lake Peigneur oil rig salt mine disaster occurred in 1980 when a oil drill pierced the salt mine. Thankfully nobody was hurt during this catastrophic drilling accident that was spectacular to watch unfold. Definitely a bad day on the oil rig.
