A maritime pilot boards the cargo ship Tavastland as it heads through the ice into the port of Oulu. The ice is about twenty feet thick where they are standing as the ship approaches so they don’t need to worry about falling through it. This maritime pilot has obviously had a lot of practice performing this ship boarding over the ice as he makes it look so easy. The ice that is already broken helps to provide some stability for the gangplank otherwise I’m not sure this maneuver would work. See Northern Lights In Finland.
