A cool video of the demolition of the Western Youth Institute Highrise in Morganton, NC. The 16 story building was built in 1972 and could house up to 708 mixed security offenders age 13 to 22 and employed 378 correctional officers, supervisors, case managers, social workers and food service personnel. The building had not been used since early 2014. Some media reported that the demolition didn’t go according to plan but the building fell as designed into the old parking lot.
