The B-17 That Flew Without A Cockpit

The amazing story of “Mizpah”, a B-17 Flying Fortress severely damaged in combat during World War II. The entire cockpit section was torn away mid-flight and the navigator and bombardier were killed but the pilot managed to keep it flying for over 10 minutes. First Lieutenant Swanson’s heroic actions allowed the other crew members to bail out of the damaged aircraft. Be sure to watch B-17 Bomber “Old 666” to learn about the most decorated aircrew mission of WWII.
