It takes a special kind of pilot to catch a bucket of film being dropped from a satellite and that’s exactly what kind of pilots “The Star Catchers” were. The National Reconnaissance Office shares with us the story of The Last Bucket Catch performed by Air Force pilots operating out of Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii in 1986. I can only imagine the pressure the pilots were under as they attempted to catch the buckets before they splashed into the ocean.
