How A Fire Engine Works

Animagraffs shares an in-depth, x-ray style look inside a fire engine or “pumper truck”. Fire trucks are complicated pieces of equipment designed to offer various means of putting water on a fire. Most pumper trucks are rated at 1,500gpm and will need an external water source within a few minutes of putting water on a fire as the engine’s tank will quickly be depleted. An SCBA, or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, is a respirator that provides a portable supply of breathable air, allowing firefighters to enter smoke-filled oxygen-deficient structures.
