Prepare to be amazed by 15 year old scientist Jack Andraka’s presentation “My 3 Cents On Cancer” about the cancer screening test he developed for pancreatic, ovarian and lung cancer. His sensor costs 3 cents and takes 5 minutes to run. He was motivated to develop this test after a close family friend died from pancreatic cancer. So, Jack decided to do something about it and he used the Internet and a lot of perseverance to accomplish his scientific achievement. Kudos to the professor at John Hopkins University for giving him access to a lab to perfect his research. I love how Jack ends his presentation with a note of hope of how the Internet is changing the world for the better. Jack is also on the national junior whitewater kayaking team and enjoys playing with his dog and folding origami.
